Behind my unusually broad skillset is a strange journey.
I started life in PR, working for tech and fintech brands in the City, somehow ending up at JPMorgan. This not being my lifelong dream, I finally scratched a lifelong itch and jumped feet first, full time into music production and songwriting. I wrote, remixed and produced for artists as diverse as Kylie, Lily Allen, The Verve, Bat For Lashes and Gorillaz, even starting my own band, Death Metal Disco Scene, which caught the attention of the Guardian, Radio 1 and more. Music production brought me into the orbit of advertising agencies, where I rescored film trailers, created sonic identities for movie studios and made music for ads, for clients including Boss, VW, Batchelors, Vauxhall and movies including The Road.
From here it was a small step into an agency environment, and from music to general creative mischief. Over eight years I built up the brand advertising offering of film marketing agency The Creative Partnership. It was here that we helped grow LOVEFiLM from a tiny startup into its $200m sale to Amazon.
Bolstered by our successes, I co-founded Above+Beyond with Nic Ost in 2012.
We worked hard but we had a lot of luck. By 2016 Above+Beyond was a top 40 independent creative agency by billings. By 2019, when we had expanded the creative agency into a boutique marketing services collective, it had amassed a series of prestigious global clients including Amazon, Subway, Boots and Ornua. On the back of its success we launched boutique marketing services group The Beyond Collective, with offerings across media, strategy and post production. In 2020, I exited the business for new adventures.
Today, I bring some of this experience to bear whether I'm working directly with brands, agencies or production companies, and whether I'm tackling advertising briefs, brand propositions or visual and sonic identities. I create seamless, joined up, fresh and exciting ideas all the way from upstream strategy to final campaign delivery.
